Make your employees into a happy family!

Two days of employment law seminars!

Tuesday March 6th at 7:00 pm and a repeat on Wednesday March 7th at 12:00 noon

Two days to get the DL (down low (secret agenda stuff)) on employment law by local Breckenridge lawyer, Miro Kovacevic. Great presenter and great location in the Teal Art Gallery. You can bring lunch or dinner with you but don’t forget a notepad.  This is information everyone who has an employee or is thinking about getting employees should know.

We are going to learn about:

  • Why this is an important topic, relevant laws and applicability.
  • Compensable Time/Record Keeping
  • Minimum Wage
  • Overtime
  • Enforcement/Penalties

And of course, there will be a questions session.  Come find out how to stay out of trouble and enjoy hanging out with other business people in Summit County.

Specials thanks to SIBA, Miro Kovacevic and Krystal 93

A hilarious reason to co-work

Here at the Foundry we have a few all time favorite YouTube videos.  I feel like this one, “Procrastination” is the reason I enjoy working here an not at home.  Clean the house, get the mail, pay the bills, do the laundry, these are all the reasons that I can’t work at home.  When would I do my work? Thank you very much Levni Yilmaz.  My other personal favorite is Tales of Mere Existence’s “Various Jobs I could Get.” Enjoy.

Co-working in the High Country

Summit Sojourner‘s Holly Resignolo is on the ball when it comes to trends in the workplace and business.  She was kind enough to include The Foundry in her article about the mobile worker. The rise of the telecommuter is a big topic these days.  Everything from companies cutting down on overhead to people starting their own businesses, has people talking about how to adapt to their new workspace.  Whether it is a coffee shop or a co-working space or your living room, telecommuting is growing and will affect everything from events to real estate.

Don’t think co-working is going to help?

I’m sure most people probably don’t spend as much time as I do looking up the benefits and lifestyles of co-working.  You know – “the practice of sharing an office with random strangers rather than working by yourself at home.” This is an article that shows some good figures about how much happier people are when the are working with a bunch of people instead of by themselves.  This is one nice short article by life hacker that sums it all up beautifully.

We also just got a new coworker*, so I hope he likes the new layout. Also, don’t miss the Lunch and Learn this Wednesday (OCT. 19) at noon about Planning for your estate 101 – it’s not just for rich people.  *On a side  note, there is an online movement to remove the hyphen from coworking. Grand Opening of the Conference Room

Launch party of our new conference space! Come check out the great space while enjoying great networking, light appetizers & snacks… We will be hosting a brief discussion about the concept of “Co-working” and why it has taken off in so many places. Check out pictures and info about the space at http://coworkingbreck.com/

When: August 11th @ 5:30 till 7ish…

Where: 211 North Main Street

About Co-working Synopsis:

Picture this: because you’re so focused on your work, you start to attend fewer events, which means you’ll have fewer opportunities to connect with other professionals, which means you’ll eventually know fewer people…which means you’ll get invited to fewer things…see where this is headed?

The forum will discuss that fact that Work is changing. The way we work is changing. Coworking is a key part of this change. The coworking movement is proving that independent professionals can do better together–in a community–than they can alone.

The way we work is moving toward community and collaboration. “Community” carries different meanings in different contexts. In coworking, community is the intangible—but critical—benefit of bringing people together. A coworking community is a group of people with shared values, who contribute to and benefit from their shared environment.

Everyone is invited!
